The Ace Report ... your source for the latest commentary on whatever is happening in the world

Many of you are east coasters… I still consider myself part of that crowd, but I am slowly becoming attuned to the style of life (more like pace) of the Midwest. Things aren’t necessarily slower out here, but rather… less urgent.

I think this is key in understanding Kansas life. For those of you who have visited Goshen NY, you know the scenery and the landscape. Where Nisse and I are in Prairie Village, KS, there is more residential and commercial development than Goshen. So while our area has ‘more in it,’ people aren’t in as much of a hurry as I experienced them while in NY or Boston. I don’t necessarily know how else to explain it…

Except maybe to take you on a trip of a day in the life… I haven’t configured the site to incorporate video yet (not to mention that the video camera hasn’t been used in a while), but eventually I’ll put videos up here…

Nonetheless, I’m sitting at home right now between class and going to shadow Dr. Harlan Opie… Dr. Opie has been sort of a mentor for me since October, and I have gone in on Tuesdays each week to follow him around and get a better idea of what it means to be a physician… Not to mention that ability to see all sorts of maladies… And live surgeries :-)

Nisse’s at work… She’s been a steady and strong partner in this life in Kansas (and everywhere, of course)… I can’t give her enough credit for what she does… (BTW, I’m going to try to convince her to post something on here every once and a while)…

Later tonight, I’ll be tuning in online to watch Gordon’s men’s basketball team host their quarterfinal matchup in their conference tournament. If you have any interest whatsoever in watching the game, simply go HERE around 6:45 ET and click the ‘Live’ link at the top of the page.

So… that’s my day today… These posts will get increasingly more professional and aesthetically pleasing as I ease into the transition of this site… But I still think you guys might be interested in what’s going on with us…
