The Ace Report ... your source for the latest commentary on whatever is happening in the world

Well, with the coming of spring in the central United States comes the threat of severe weather. Right now, at 2:47 PM CST, I’m looking out at a gray sky… the calm before the coming storm. We had sustained winds of 30 mph, gusts to 50 mph, this morning. Now, it’s calmed down a bit…

I have a few fun things for you all this afternoon. First, a little video from AccuWeather.com. Every once in a while, when there’s a good storm-a-brewin’, I check out meteorologist Henry Margusity’s vlog ‘Meteorological Madness.’ It’s pretty in-depth and just fun to look at when he circles your city a few times… So, here you go…

Next up, Intellicast.com’s radar summary:

Red boxes heading in a general eastward direction… Makes me smile…

Finally, to give you an idea of how I feel about this kinda thing. Here’s a little clip of one of my favorite movies of all time:

Hello Everyone!

This is Nisse!!  We’ve been doing a lot of work in the yard when we have the time.

This is the latest of what we’ve been able to get accomplished.  We’re slowly making progress.  We should be able to start seeding the front yard at the end of March.  We’re both looking forward to spring and warm weather.

We’d love to hear from you:)

This morning, Nisse and I woke up early to get some yard work done. Last fall, which is one of two prime times to get this kind of thing done, we were crazy busy and had other pressing needs to work on the house, etc. So, finally, the time has come to get ‘er done. Read more

Well… I finally found out how to get video captured and whatnot. So, expect a few every once in a while…

Sorry posts have been so infrequent. I just had a pretty significant organic chemistry (orgo from now on) exam yesterday. So… I’d been studying for like a whole week. (I think I did okay)

In any case, hope you all are well.

Many of you are east coasters… I still consider myself part of that crowd, but I am slowly becoming attuned to the style of life (more like pace) of the Midwest. Things aren’t necessarily slower out here, but rather… less urgent.

I think this is key in understanding Kansas life. For those of you who have visited Goshen NY, you know the scenery and the landscape. Where Nisse and I are in Prairie Village, KS, there is more residential and commercial development than Goshen. So while our area has ‘more in it,’ people aren’t in as much of a hurry as I experienced them while in NY or Boston. I don’t necessarily know how else to explain it…

Except maybe to take you on a trip of a day in the life… I haven’t configured the site to incorporate video yet (not to mention that the video camera hasn’t been used in a while), but eventually I’ll put videos up here…

Nonetheless, I’m sitting at home right now between class and going to shadow Dr. Harlan Opie… Dr. Opie has been sort of a mentor for me since October, and I have gone in on Tuesdays each week to follow him around and get a better idea of what it means to be a physician… Not to mention that ability to see all sorts of maladies… And live surgeries :-)

Nisse’s at work… She’s been a steady and strong partner in this life in Kansas (and everywhere, of course)… I can’t give her enough credit for what she does… (BTW, I’m going to try to convince her to post something on here every once and a while)…

Later tonight, I’ll be tuning in online to watch Gordon’s men’s basketball team host their quarterfinal matchup in their conference tournament. If you have any interest whatsoever in watching the game, simply go HERE around 6:45 ET and click the ‘Live’ link at the top of the page.

So… that’s my day today… These posts will get increasingly more professional and aesthetically pleasing as I ease into the transition of this site… But I still think you guys might be interested in what’s going on with us…
